Violence has again spread in India’s northeastern state of Manipur. In the last 24 hours, 9 people including women have been killed. Curfew, which was relaxed after this incident, has been tightened again. News: NDTV
According to army sources, the shooting happened late on Tuesday night in Khamenlok area. Khamenlok area is located near the border of Imphal East District and Kangpokpi.
Several of the injured were taken to Imphal for treatment. Some of those killed in the violence have cuts and multiple bullet injuries.
There has been tension there for more than a month due to ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities. The incident took place when efforts were underway to restore peace in the state.
Around 100 people have lost their lives in communal clashes in Manipur so far. Many more were injured. Besides, thousands of people had to leave their homes.
