For actor Vikrant Massey, a long-held dream recently found its moment in the spotlight. He proudly accepted the National Film Award for Best Actor for his powerful role in the film ’12th Fail’. The prestigious ceremony unfolded this past Tuesday, September 23rd, at the grand Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu herself presented the honors to all the deserving winners, making the occasion even more special.
Vikrant could barely contain his joy after the win. Speaking to the news agency ANI, he shared how amazing the feeling truly was. He explained that after the initial excitement, going home and letting it all sink in made him realize, “It’s a dream that has come true.” The rush of the event made it feel a little surreal at first.
A Sense of Responsibility
The awards celebrated achievements from films, artists, and short films released in the year 2023. Vikrant was overjoyed by his win. He told ANI that the moment the award was announced was truly wonderful. He reflected, “It was a bit hectic, but as soon as I returned home, after a few days, it all started sinking in. I realized that it truly happened. In fact, it is a dream that has come true.” He even recalled cherishing this particular dream since 2021, when he was leaving Baroda for a TV show shoot.
For Vikrant, achieving this dream is an incredible feeling, but it also comes with a significant sense of duty. He believes it is his responsibility to constantly improve his work. He wants to represent the common person and give a voice to those who are often unheard. Through his craft, he aims to entertain, inform, and inspire the audience.

Inspired by Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji
A heartwarming moment from the award ceremony quickly went viral online. It showed Vikrant, Rani Mukerji, and Shah Rukh Khan playfully helping each other put on their medals. When asked about this, Vikrant laughed, agreeing it was “absolutely right. It was indeed a childlike moment.” He found it incredibly inspiring to see “Rani ma’am and Shah Rukh sir still maintain that quality after so much success.”
He recounted the interaction: Shah Rukh approached them, saying, “I am wearing this (medal).” Both Vikrant and Rani eagerly asked, “Yes, we also want to wear it, but can we wear it?” Shah Rukh’s reply was simple: “Yes, let’s wear it, why not?” They all just started helping each other out, completely caught up in the pure joy of the moment.
