The rockets fell near the Afghan presidential palace in Kabul on Tuesday during prayers for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, a live television broadcast showed.
No injuries were immediately reported. President Ashraf Ghani and others in the vicinity had to stop prayers after several large explosions rocked the area, television reports said.
Video released to local media showed attendees panicking after the explosions.
Tolonews reported that the rockets were fired from the Parwan-e-Se area in Kabul’s 18th district, north of the city. “The rockets landed in the Bagh-e-Ali Mardan and Chaman-e-Hozori areas in Kabul’s District 1 and the Manabe Bashari area in Kabul’s District 2,” he added.
