Víctor García Sued: between politics and the ball

The life of Víctor García Sued, elected last Friday, president number 20 in the history of the Águilas Cibaeñas team franchise, has developed between politics and baseball. García Sued even spent his first weekend as president of the Eaglet Board of Directors and director of the North Regional Office of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs.

García Sued has held political office since August 21, 2022, by decree of President Luis Abinader, but that of president of the Eagles since noon on Friday by absolute decision of the shareholders.

The boy Víctor Eduardo’s passion for baseball embraced him from the age of 5, when his father took him to the Cibao stadium to watch baseball games or to the Tennis Club stadium to watch softball games.

Like every year, Víctor Eduardo dreamed of being a baseball player, but his physique did not help him, so he chose to concentrate on his studies.

But as he grew older, Vitico had a fondness for motors and speed, suffering a spectacular accident, with a large number of fractures and three months hospitalized.

HARRIER SINCE CHIQUITICO
Although he went to study in the United States, his father, Lionel García Beltrán, was still linked to the Águilas Cibaeñas as one of its shareholders.

Vitico accompanied his father to the Cibao stadium, to see his idols of the time play, mainly Julián Javier, whom he defines as a player who admires everything he did.

When García Sued married, he did so with Llini Jorge, daughter of Fabio Jorge, who was the treasurer of the Águilas and held that position for many years.

Don Lionel his father was never president of the Board of Directors, although he was a highly respected person in the team and was later given the title of president ad vitam.

Like the vast majority of shares, García Sued inherited his shares from his father, as did his wife, also a shareholder.

Vitico entered the eaglet board of directors in 2012 and made them as a member, rising several positions until he was elected president on Friday.

He owns the Vitico and De Aza Baseball Academy, an academy from which several players have emerged who are scattered throughout the six Dominican baseball teams.

THE POLITICIAN

With his hopes of being a baseball player or a motor pilot vanished, García Sued headed down the path of politics, following the guidelines of Dr. Joaquín Balaguer and the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC).

In the political field he managed to be a deputy, as well as a senator for the province of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Vitico resigned from the reformist and went to the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), from where he faced his former partner Eduardo Estrella for the senatorship and was defeated.

In the past elections, he supported the “Change” campaign raised by the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and its candidate, today president Luis Abinader, who after winning appointed him to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs for Cibao.
