Vicky Kaushal’s film “Chhaava” is making waves at the box office, and it’s safe to say that this might just be the biggest film of the year. The trailer, which was released earlier this year, had already created quite a buzz, and now the film’s first-day collection is proving that it’s going to be a huge hit. According to Sacnilk reports, “Chhaava” has earned around 31 crores on its first day, which is a massive opening, and the numbers are still not final. This also makes it the biggest opening of the year so far.
A massive opening
The film has beaten the first-day collection of Akshay Kumar’s “Sky Force”, which had earned 12 crores on its opening day. Both films are produced by Maddock Films. The craze for “Chhaava” is quite high, with almost all shows being houseful in Maharashtra. In Mumbai, out of 1305 shows, the occupancy was around 88% in the night, while in Delhi, out of 1292 shows, the occupancy was around 47%.
Beating “Taanaji”
Ajay Devgn’s “Taanaji” was a period drama film that had received a lot of love from the audience before the lockdown. The film had done exceptionally well at the box office, but it seems like “Chhaava” has surpassed its first-day collection. “Taanaji” had earned 15.10 crores on its first day, while “Chhaava” has earned double that amount. The story of “Taanaji” also featured Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and “Chhaava” is based on the life of his son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
This is also the biggest opening of Vicky Kaushal’s career, surpassing his previous film “Bad News”, which had earned 8.62 crores on its first day. His father, action director Sham Kaushal, has also reacted to the film’s success on social media. He shared a post saying, “God is kind. Thank you for giving so much love to ‘Chhaava’ and making it a blockbuster. Rab rakha.”
Vicky Kaushal put his heart and soul into this film, and it shows in his performance. The review by Aaj Tak also praises Vicky’s work. He worked hard for his character, and now the fruits of his labor are visible in the film’s collection. It will be interesting to see what more “Chhaava” has in store for us in the coming days.
