Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Chhaava’ has been breaking records at the box office since its release on Friday, with the biggest opening of his career. The first weekend saw collections of over 120 crores, surpassing every estimate. Even as the working week commenced after the weekend, ‘Chhaava’ hasn’t slowed down. On Tuesday, it achieved a remarkable feat at the box office and is poised to cross a new milestone on Wednesday.
Earning More Than Saturday on Tuesday
‘Chhaava’ had a solid start to the working week, with Monday’s collection of 24 crores being only half less than Sunday’s. Typically, Monday acts as a speed breaker for big films, with earnings decreasing slightly thereafter. However, ‘Chhaava’ surprised trade experts once again on Tuesday. The film collected Rs 25.75 crore at the box office on the fifth day of its release, showing growth compared to Monday, and taking its total net collection to 171 crores. For context, last year’s biggest Bollywood hit ‘Stree 2’ earned Rs 25.8 crore on its first Tuesday, a figure ‘Chhaava’ has almost matched.
‘Chhawa’ Ready to Cross 200 Crores in 6 Days
With Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti being a holiday in many parts of the country on Wednesday, ‘Chhaava’ started gaining momentum in evening shows on Tuesday. The film, based on the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s son, could benefit from this connection and the holiday. Especially in Maharashtra, where ‘Chhaava’ set a record for the highest earnings on the first day, the film has a good chance of collecting up to 30 crores at the box office on the sixth day, potentially reaching a total of 200 crores.
The fastest film to reach the 200 crore club was Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’, achieving this in just 3 days. ‘Jawan’, ‘Animal’, and ‘Pathan’ entered this club in 4 days, while ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Stree 2’, and ‘KGF 2’ earned 200 crores in 5 days. Notably, ‘Bahubali 2’, which eventually earned 500 crores, crossed the 200 crore mark in 6 days. Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ is moving at a pace that surpasses even this speed, suggesting it could earn 300 crores. The question remains whether ‘Chhaava’ can join the exclusive 400-500 crore club.
