Vicky Kaushal Defends Film Chhava Amidst Lezim Dance Controversy Erupts

Vicky Kaushal has been in the news for his film ‘Chhava’ for a long time. Recently, he has talked about a song called Lezim Dance from the film. He has said that if the followers of Sambhaji Maharaj do not find it right and do not find it necessary for the story of the film, then the filmmakers have no objection to removing it from the film. They do not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. The trailer of the film ‘Chhava’ was released on 22 January.

Vicky Kaushal, while talking to the media, gave a statement on the deleted Lezim dance sequence from the film ‘Chhava’. He said that the dance sequence was not necessary for the story of the film. This sequence in the film was only 20-30 seconds long. It was not just a part of the story, but an attempt to spread Indian culture around the world. Vicky further said, ‘Sambhaji Maharaj was the king of the people and if someone had asked him to play Lezim with them, then Sambhaji Maharaj would have played. But if his followers do not find it right and do not seem to think it is necessary for the story of the film, then the filmmakers removed this sequence from the film.

Regarding the making of the film, Vicky told that there is not a single day when the team started work on the film without performing a traditional ritual called Shivgbandhana. The trailer of the film ‘Chhava’ came into controversy as soon as it was released on January 22. In this trailer, Vicky Kaushal, who played the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, was shown dancing. Seeing which many people were enraged. Seeing the protests growing, the film’s director Laxman Utekar removed this dance sequence from the film.

The film ‘Chhava’ is the story of the life of ‘Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’, son of the Maratha Emperor ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’. Apart from Vicky Kaushal in the film, Akshaye Khanna will be seen in the role of ‘Aurangzeb’ and Rashmika Mandana will play the role of Maharani, the wife of Sambhaji Maharaj. Director Laxman Utekar’s film ‘Chhava’, made under the banner of Maddock Films, will be released in theaters on 14 February 2025.
