The vice minister of the presidency, Alberto Rodríguez, valued the contribution that baseball player Robinson Cano has made in his native San Pedro de Macorís through an important economic and environmental project.
“This investment is a sign of the security that this government guarantees for those who want to use their capital in the country,” Rodríguez said.
The star second baseman of the New York Metros made a $16 million investment in a recycling plant in San Pedro de Macorís.
For Vice Minister Rodríguez, one of the most important factors of this initiative is the creation of jobs in the eastern part of the country.
“More than 800 jobs are going to be created in the first phase of the project and that boosts the economy of the area,” said the also sports leader and founder of the National Sports Movement.
President Luis Abinader attended the activity and stated that he will continue to encourage major league players to invest in his country.
In this government administration of just one year and six months, Pedro Martínez and Edwin Encarnación have also embraced the banner of investment in different areas of the economy.
