Veteran Kannada Actor-Comedian M.S. Umesh Dies at 80 from Liver Cancer

Veteran Kannada actor Umesh has passed away at the age of 80. The esteemed artist died following a battle with liver cancer. His demise has caused widespread sorrow across the Kannada film industry.

Umesh had been facing health problems for an extended period. The liver cancer was discovered during recent medical treatment for a leg injury. He had initially been hospitalized after suffering a fall at his home.

Doctors identified the cancer during surgery performed on his leg. He subsequently began receiving treatment for the liver disease. He passed away on Sunday after fighting the illness.

H.D. Kumaraswamy, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and a Member of Parliament, expressed his profound grief. He shared a heartfelt tribute on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“I was very saddened to hear the news of the demise of the famous comedian Shri M.S. Umesh,” Kumaraswamy wrote. “Umesh, who immersed audiences in a sea of laughter through his subtle humor, was an actor who enriched the Kannada film industry.” He also highlighted Umesh’s “wonderful performances in many films including ‘Guru Shishyaru’, ‘Haalu Jenu’, ‘Apoorva Sangama’.”
