Veteran Actor Vipin Sharma Breaks Down Recalling Late Friend Irrfan Khan’s Last Days

It’s been five years since Irrfan Khan left us, and for his loved ones, the pain still feels fresh. Actor Vipin Sharma, who was Irrfan’s batchmate at the National School of Drama, has fond memories of their friendship. Although they didn’t interact much back then, their bond grew stronger when they entered the film industry. In a recent interview with ‘The Lallantop’, Vipin shared how he received the news of Irrfan’s passing and how he still misses him deeply.

A Spiritual Connection

Vipin got emotional while talking about Irrfan. He said that he had thought he wouldn’t get emotional this time, but it’s hard to talk about Irrfan without tearing up. Vipin still misses Irrfan and often thinks about him. He often has dreams about Irrfan and feels like he’s still with him. Vipin believes that Irrfan had a spiritual connection with many people, and their bond went beyond just a friendship.

Vipin shared that he still has dreams about Irrfan and often feels like he’s still around. He recalled telling Irrfan about his dreams, and Irrfan would ask him to share more. Even after Irrfan’s passing, Vipin continues to have dreams about him. A friend suggested that Vipin might be holding Irrfan back from moving on, so he decided to have a heart-to-heart with Irrfan. Vipin closed his eyes, prayed for Irrfan’s well-being, and asked him to move on. However, he still has dreams about Irrfan.

Their Last Meeting

Vipin remembered his last meeting with Irrfan in London, where Irrfan was about to start chemotherapy. He visited Irrfan at the hospital and was happy to see that Irrfan was still reading, with a book by Rumi by his bedside. When they met, Irrfan was wrapped in a shawl, and they hugged each other tightly. They spent a lot of time together in Irrfan’s hospital room, laughing and joking around.

Vipin noticed that Irrfan had created a little world for himself in the hospital room. Some Malayali nurses would often chat with him and play games like hopscotch together. Irrfan’s friends had arranged for entertainment like TV channels, Netflix, and Amazon Prime in his room, making it a cozy space for him.

Irrfan’s Strength

Vipin was amazed by Irrfan’s strength during his illness. He said that Irrfan was a fighter who endured immense pain but never lost his curiosity. Even during his treatment, Irrfan continued to work on a film project. Vipin admired Irrfan’s resilience and spirit.

Irrfan passed away in 2020 due to a neuroendocrine tumor at 53. His last film, ‘Angrezi Medium’, was released on March 13, 2020, just before his passing on April 29, 2020.
