Verbal agreement with Escribá

Fran Escribá (Valencia, 1965) is one step away from becoming the new coach of Real Zaragoza as replacement for Juan Carlos Carcedo, fired yesterday together with the sports director Miguel Torrecilla. The negotiations that the general director of the Aragonese club, Raúl Sanllehí, maintains with Manuel García Quilón, representative of the Valencian coach, are practically closed and his hiring will be announced in the next few hours, probably this afternoon. Escribá, who already has his bags packed to travel to Zaragoza, will have former Zaragoza player David Generelo as his assistant, who wore the shirt with the lion’s shield from 1999 to 2008 and won a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup.

Escribá, formerly of Elche -who was promoted to the First Division in 2013-, Getafe, Villarreal and Celta, lived his last experience on a bench in the Elche team, from which he was fired on November 21. The Valencian coach, who according to those around him is “very enthusiastic and eager” to face the challenge ahead, is going to sign for Real Zaragoza until the end of the season, plus another optional year.

Real Zaragoza also has several negotiations open for the hiring of a sports director and this afternoon it has announced that Emilio Larraz, coach of Deportivo Aragón, will direct this afternoon’s training session (5:30 p.m.) on an interim basis in the City of Zaragoza.
