Venezuela Leader Sparks Outrage with Power Grab Amid Turmoil

Opposition Leader Denounces Maduro’s Inauguration as a Coup

Edmundo González Urrutia, the opposition leader who claims to be the rightful president of Venezuela, has denounced Nicolás Maduro’s inauguration for a third term as a “coup d’état” and a move to “crown himself a dictator.”

González Urrutia made the statement in a message broadcast on social media, in which he also ordered the military high command to “ignore illegal orders” and prepare for his return to the country.

A Call to Action

González Urrutia’s message was met with support from Álvaro Delgado, a senator-elect and former presidential candidate, who expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people and reiterated his support for a free and democratic Venezuela.

Delgado wrote on social media that “in the fight for freedom, there is no room for neutrality,” echoing González Urrutia’s call to action.

International Reaction

The international community has been watching the situation in Venezuela closely, with many countries expressing concern over the legitimacy of Maduro’s government.

The United States, in particular, has been a vocal critic of Maduro’s regime, imposing sanctions and supporting opposition leaders like González Urrutia.

What’s Next?

As the situation in Venezuela continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the international community will respond to González Urrutia’s call to action.

One thing is certain, however: the people of Venezuela will continue to demand freedom, democracy, and an end to the authoritarian rule of Nicolás Maduro.
