Venezuela and Russia deepen cooperation in the fight against drugs and smuggling

Authorities from Venezuela and Russia met this Tuesday to advancing cooperation in customs administration and in the fight against drug trafficking and drug smuggling, informed the national anti-drug superintendent, Richard López Vargas.

"(At the meeting) we were accompanied by representatives of the Integrated National Customs and Tax Administration Service to continue deepening bilateral cooperation in customs management, the fight against drugs and smuggling"López Vargas wrote on his Twitter account.

The official met with Russian customs representatives Nikolai Rykunov and Eduard Osipov, both "concurrent residents in Argentina for Latin America", with whom he ratified Venezuela’s will to continue strengthening its "brotherhood, friendship and cooperation".

"We confirm our willingness to continue strengthening ties of brotherhood, friendship and strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation and thus consolidate the path towards a multipolar world and for the Bolivarian diplomacy of peace, led by President Nicolás Maduro"he underlined.

The link between the two countries was strengthened during the management of the late President Hugo Chávez and they remain with the Maduro Administration, who has expressed his "firm support" to Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, which is now more than 100 days old and in which more than 4,000 civilians have died, according to figures from the United Nations Office for Human Rights.
