Varun Badola: Shah Rukh Khan’s Star Power Would Flop Saiyaara

The movie “Saiyaara” was a massive hit at the box office. It really surprised everyone by becoming a blockbuster. But here’s a twist: an actor from the film recently claimed that if superstar Shah Rukh Khan had been in “Saiyaara,” it would have failed completely. Can you believe that? This bold statement has certainly stirred up some chatter in the entertainment world.

The film “Saiyaara” launched Ahaan Panday’s career. It quickly became a fan favorite. We often wonder what happens when a huge star joins a movie. We can only guess what King Khan’s presence would do for a project. However, Varun Badola, who played Krish’s father (Ahaan Panday’s character) in “Saiyaara,” believes Shah Rukh Khan’s star power would have sunk the film. He truly thinks the movie would not have done well with the superstar involved.

Varun Badola explained his unusual opinion by talking about the importance of star power. He said that Shah Rukh Khan was simply too big for “Saiyaara.” He also used another example: if Ahaan Panday had been cast in “Jawan,” that movie would have flopped too. According to Varun, a star’s personality must fit the size of the movie. Shah Rukh Khan is a giant star for a film like “Saiyaara,” while Ahaan Panday’s personality isn’t yet big enough for a massive movie like “Jawan.”

Badola recently had an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit. During this chat, he shared his views on star power and film success. After “Saiyaara” hit theaters, many in the industry started debating “star versus content.” Some argued that big stars are no longer a must-have for movies. But Varun Badola strongly disagreed with this idea. He believes that the scale of any film project decides what kind of star power it needs to succeed.

He further clarified his points about Shah Rukh Khan’s stardom compared to Ahaan Panday’s newer presence. He shut down the idea that “Saiyaara” proved audiences don’t need big stars anymore. Varun put it simply, saying, “If you put Ahaan Panday into ‘Jawan’ right now, ‘Jawan’ will flop. And if you put Shah Rukh Khan into ‘Saiyaara,’ ‘Saiyaara’ will flop.” He emphasized that Shah Rukh Khan’s superstar status is just too immense for a film like “Saiyaara.” On the flip side, he feels Ahaan, as a young actor, doesn’t yet have the personality to carry a huge film like “Jawan.”
