Van Vleuten will do Vuelta, Giro and Tour in his last season

Annemiek Van Vleuten already has his calendar set for the 2023 seasonin which the veteran Dutch cyclist will play her last year in competition before hanging up her bike at the age of 40.

Van Vleuten, who last year achieved a historic milestone by winning the general in Giro, Tour and Vuelta in addition to the world title on the road Despite having suffered a broken elbow after falling in the mixed team relay time trial, she will wear the rainbow jersey in the big events on the calendar, as the cyclist herself has confirmed through her website.

Van Vleuten’s 2023 will start on February 16 at the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, which will be a good preparation for the first two great classics of the season: the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (February 25) and the Strade Bianche (March 4).

After the Strade Bianche, Van Vleuten will carry out a new concentration in height in Tenerife from March 5 to 31 before facing the Classics of Flanders and the Ardennes. In Flanders, Van Vleuten will run in the Tour of Flanders (April 2), but not in Paris-Roubaix, although he will compete in the Ardennes Triptych with the Amstel Gold Race (April 16), Fleche Wallonne (April 19) and Liège- Bastogne-Liège (April 23). After Liège, Van Vleuten will start defending his three grand tours in the Tour of Spain (May 1-7).

After recovering strength in May, on the 29th of that month, Van Vleuten will carry out a new training at altitude until June 22 to compete in the road test of the Netherlands Championships (June 24), a demanding test before competing in the Giro Rosa, the Women’s Giro d’Italia (June 30 – July 9).

Van Vleuten will recover for 12 days in Livigno before competing in his third grand tour, the Women’s Tour de France with Zwift (July 23-30) before ending his career as a professional taking part in the time trial (August 10) and the online test (August 12) at the Glasgow Cycling World Championshipswhere Van Vleuten wants to revalidate the rainbow jersey to put the finishing touch on his career.
