Riot Games is shaking up the VALORANT battlefield with its newest agent, Veto. This new Sentinel character is a strict enforcer from Senegal. He is here to break all the usual rules of combat. Veto comes with unstoppable mutant powers that let him “nullify” enemy technology and skills. This means every match with him becomes a true test of pure skill and aiming. He first appeared at the VALORANT Champions Finals in Paris. Players everywhere can start using Veto on October 7, 2025.

A Disruptor Born from Mutation
Veto’s powers come from a strong mutation. This makes him resistant to all technology and supernatural abilities. Riot Games created him to challenge gameplay that relies too much on agent skills. He gives players a chance to hold defensive lines with more confidence. His personal motto, “Only bullets are trustworthy,” perfectly sums up his approach.
Nicholas Smith, a VALORANT Game Designer, talked about Veto’s idea. He said Veto helps teams stand firm, especially when attackers use many skills. Veto has unique tools. These help players control areas and defend sites well. Smith called him a Sentinel who faces challenges head-on. He plays with confidence even in the toughest moments.
Veto’s Core Abilities
Veto’s unique abilities emphasize gunplay and tactical positioning. They are designed to disrupt the enemy’s plans and empower his team. Each tool reflects his anti-technology philosophy.

Chokehold: Veto throws a mutant shard trap. It roots enemies in place. Foes caught in it will be Deafen and Decay. Players can shoot and destroy the trap before it activates.

Crosscut: Veto places a vortex on the ground. He can reactivate it to teleport back to that spot. During the Buy Phase, he can pick it up and place it again.

Interceptor: Veto deploys an interceptor device. This device can destroy any utility that bounces or must be shot to be destroyed. Enemies can shoot it to remove it.

Evolution (Ultimate): Veto fully mutates. He gains increased attack speed and health regeneration. He also becomes immune to all debuffs and skill damage. Only bullets and projectile weapons can harm him in this state.
Nicholas further explained Veto’s ultimate. He noted that when enemies see Veto activate his ultimate, they must change how they fight. They cannot stop him with skills. Only precise aiming can take him down. This truly forces a focus on raw gunplay.
Beyond his abilities, Veto brings some special in-game items. These include the “Mutagenesis” Gun Buddy, “The Deep End” Player Card, and an “Enforcer” Sheriff Sidearm skin. These collectibles add to his unique theme.
Veto represents a new era for VALORANT. He promises to redefine what it means to rely on pure combat. His arrival will change how players think about the game.
