The VCT Ascension Americas 2025 tournament, which commenced on Tuesday, May 14, offers a single, highly coveted spot in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas league for 2026, a prize that has historically proven challenging for past victors to maintain.
This annual competition is designed to elevate one team from the regional Tier 2 circuit into the elite VCT Americas, the continent’s premier VALORANT competition. The ultimate goal for participating organizations is the prestige and opportunity of this league spot, rather than the approximately $97,000 prize pool distributed among teams, excluding the champion.
The third edition of the tournament highlights a precarious path for ascendant teams. In 2023, The Guard won but subsequently lost its spot for failing to sign the required contract, with G2 Esports ultimately taking its place in the franchised league. Similarly, 2GAME Esports, the 2024 champion, was relegated in the same season due to poor performance.
Eight teams are vying for the single league berth, including three Brazilian organizations. The main event features Stellae Gaming, Team Solid, TSM, ENVOY, and 9z Team. An initial play-in stage on May 14, which began at 3 PM UTC-3, saw RED Canids, Six Karma, and Winthrop University compete for two remaining slots in the main bracket.
The tournament begins with a Swiss stage, where teams play best-of-three matches. Organizations must secure two wins to advance to the playoffs, while two losses result in elimination. Four teams will progress from this stage.
The playoffs adopt a double-elimination format, featuring an upper and lower bracket. Most playoff matches are best-of-three, with the upper and lower bracket finals escalating to best-of-five series.
All matches are broadcast live on the official VALORANT Esports Brasil channels across Twitch and YouTube, as the competitive circuit looks towards an “unprecedented roster” of publisher partners in the 2026 VCT season.
