VALORANT VCT Americas: 2GAME Relegated, FURIA’s Playoff Hopes End

The final weekend of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas brought an end to playoff hopes and delivered a harsh blow for two Brazilian teams. On Saturday, both FURIA and 2GAME Esports stepped onto the servers. They knew the stakes were incredibly high. For one team, it meant outright relegation from the top tier of competitive VALORANT.

FURIA faced Evil Geniuses needing a clean 2-0 win to keep their playoff dreams alive. That hope faded quickly. They lost the first map decisively, 13-6. This single map defeat not only crushed FURIA’s own playoff chances but also spelled trouble for their countrymen, 2GAME.

FURIA could have helped 2GAME if they had managed a 2-1 comeback. This would have meant winning the second and third maps. However, such a comeback had not happened for FURIA all year. Their only win in 13 series played was, ironically, against 2GAME themselves. That happened at the Kickoff event. For that match, FURIA used a temporary foreign team. Their main roster’s paperwork was not ready yet.

With FURIA’s loss, 2GAME’s hopes also vanished. This meant the organization was relegated from the VCT Americas. They will not be part of the franchise league in 2026. 2GAME is not a Riot Games partner team. They earned their spot in the top continental league by winning the access tournament in 2024. Now, they must return to Brazil. They will compete in the VCB, the national championship, in 2026. Their path back to VCT Americas is through the Ascension Americas tournament. If they want to return to the VCT in 2027, they must win that access event again.

2GAME even put up a fight against Sentinels. They managed to take one map from them. Still, they ultimately lost the series 2-1. There was also a specific “dispute” for 2GAME, a match against G2. Winning this match could have prevented their fall to VCB. It also offered a direct path to Ascension, which included Champions qualification. That did not happen. As a result, 2GAME will now enter the first split of the Brazilian championship. Their current academy roster will be disbanded, and the main team will take their place.

This is a tough break for 2GAME. They shared their feelings on social media.

“Even in a year full of adversities, we never gave up or stopped believing. We know we could have done more, but for now, we’ll stay here. Thank you for the support, you are incredible, and we will be eternally grateful for so much affection! THIS IS NOT GOODBYE. THANK YOU, VCT…”

The esports landscape can be brutal. Teams like 2GAME must fight tooth and nail for their spot. Their journey back to the top league begins now, one match at a time. The road will be long, but their determination remains.
