Riot Games just pulled a fast one on tactical shooter fans. During the electrifying VALORANT Champions 2025 final on Sunday, the game company unveiled Veto, a brand-new agent set to redefine how players approach strategy. He’s not just another face; Veto is here to shut down enemy tricks.
Veto joins the ranks as a Sentinel, focusing on defense and controlling map areas. His unique twist? He can turn off opponent powers. This Senegalese character throws out the rulebook, stopping enemy tech and special moves cold. When Veto is around, it’s less about fancy gadgets and more about raw gun skill.

Veto’s Arsenal: What He Brings to the Fight
Veto’s kit is all about control and making enemies second-guess their moves. Here’s a quick look at his special powers:
Immobility: He throws out a sticky chunk from his body. When it lands, it forms a trap that grabs nearby enemies. Anyone caught suffers from Deafness and Deterioration. They can break the trap before it fully activates.
Traverse: Veto can place a swirling vortex on the ground. He can then teleport to this vortex if he’s close enough and looking at it. During the buy phase, he can pick up and move the vortex around, offering lots of tactical choices.
Interceptor: This device is a real gadget killer. Veto installs it, and it zaps enemy items like grenades or launched abilities that come its way. It also stops things that would normally be shot down. Enemies can also destroy the Interceptor.
Evolution (Ultimate): This is Veto’s most powerful move. He instantly goes through a full change. This gives him a combat boost, heals him, and makes him immune to all bad effects. He becomes incredibly tough to beat in direct fights.

Nicholas Smith, a Game Designer, weighed in on Veto’s impact. “Veto will definitely shake things up, especially how teams use their special items,” Smith explained. “In all skill levels, bomb planting spots often become crowded with too many abilities. Veto was built to fight this, especially with his ultimate ability.”
Smith added, “He can withstand Brimstone’s ultimate, take a Raze rocket, and keep fighting. When enemies know he’s used his ultimate, they have to rethink their plans and move forward more carefully.”
Players won’t have to wait long to try out this disruptive agent. Veto arrives on VALORANT’s servers this coming Tuesday, the 7th. In other exciting news, a new game mode called “Duel” is already live. This mode is designed for intense 1v1 and 5v5 battles on a much smaller map, focusing purely on firefights.
