VALORANT: MIBR defeats FURIA 2-1, Aspas criticizes FURIA as “dead team” post-match.

The VCT Americas stage 1 tournament wrapped up with a bang as MIBR took down FURIA 2-1 in the final group stage match. The Brazilian teams clashed in an intense best-of-three series that saw MIBR emerge victorious.

MIBR dominated the first map, Icebox, winning 13-3. FURIA bounced back on their chosen map, also Icebox, with a 13-9 victory to level the series. The deciding map saw MIBR assert their strength, wrapping up FURIA 13-8 to seal the win.

Erick “Aspas” Santos, MIBR’s star player, spoke to Riot Games commentator Nyang after the match. Aspas was asked what MIBR could have done differently to win more convincingly. He delivered a scathing assessment of FURIA’s performance, saying they were “playing like it was a training session” because the match didn’t matter to either team. Aspas added that FURIA was “a dead team” and that MIBR just needed to play like they normally do in a competitive match.

The result wasn’t a surprise, given MIBR’s strong form throughout the tournament. They finished second in Group Omega with a 4-1 record, behind only G2. FURIA, on the other hand, lost all five of their matches, finishing with a dismal 0-5 record.

Tournament Standings

MIBR’s win secured their spot in the playoffs, while FURIA’s poor form left them without a win in the tournament. The final standings for the group stage were:

  • G2: 5-0
  • MIBR: 4-1
  • Other teams: varying records
  • FURIA: 0-5

MIBR celebrated their win on social media, posting a photo with the caption “QUANDO TÁ VALENDO, TÁ VALENDO!” (When it counts, it counts!). Aspas’ comments were also shared by the team’s official Twitter account.
