The coach of Valladolid, Diego Cocca, shared his thoughts on the team’s defeat at Rayo Vallecano’s field. Despite showing resistance to the home team’s attacks for much of the match, Valladolid’s defense was fragile at times, and they lacked the offensive power to counterattack effectively.
Cocca assessed the team’s performance, saying: “When I arrived, this was the team that scored the fewest goals, and now we score the most. We need to continue working and growing, particularly in the midfield area. We competed well, but we lack depth in our attack. Although we were moderately solid at times, there were moments where we lost focus.”
Regarding the defense, Cocca stated: “It’s not enough, but we’re becoming more competitive. This is a step forward, although unfortunately, I had to make two changes to the lineup. We need to reorganize for the upcoming matches.”
When discussing the new signings, Cocca said: “They bring renewed energy, desire, and attitude. We will provide them with the tools and confidence they need to help the team. Nikitscher has had more training days, and the new players need to earn their place on the team. Today, Lasasa started, and it’s up to them to give me confidence, not the other way around.”
Cocca also explained the reason behind Machís’ entrance into the game: “Candela asked to be substituted, and it happened suddenly. We didn’t have another lateral player available, so I had to put Machís in and delay Luis’s entry.”
