The pilot of the BH Coloma Team, David Valero, lost this Tuesday the number one ranking cross country mountain bike championship, a position he held for more than ten months and that Swiss loan Nino Schurter a few days before playing the World Cup in Scotland.
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) draws up a ranking of score based on a runner’s achievements over a yeari.e. between the end of July 2022 and this year.
This circumstance causes Valero to be seen penalized for the weeks in which he decided to compete less, to prepare for the World Championship; Furthermore, international tests which, for example, the national championshipswhich was the last victory of the Andalusian cyclist from BH, two weeks ago.
David Valero agrees at number one in the world on September 27, 2022, when he added 1,962 points, boosted by his World Championship silver medal; since he added points on multiple occasions to a “peak” 2,054 points this same year.
But from that score it went down, especially in recent weeks for not competing internationallywith which it remained at 1,534 points, after having lost more than 251 in a week, and advanced by the Swiss Nino Schurterof the Scott team, with 1,697 points.
Behind, Valero has Frenchman Jordan Sarrou (BMC) with 1,436; and the Swiss Lars Foster (Maxon) with 1,397 points. In just ten days, Valero will face the World Cup in Scotland, which he arrives at “without giving too much importance to this affair, because I already knew what was going to happen” and with the idea that “it is an honor to reach a World Cup at the top of the world rankings,” he explained to EFE.
