Valencia Resumes Work on New Mestalla Stadium
Valencia has restarted construction on its new stadium, Mestalla, after a brief pause. The project, which began on Friday, January 10, 2025, is expected to be completed by summer 2027. The new stadium will have a seating capacity of 70,044 spectators and will meet the requirements of international competitions such as FIFA and UEFA.
The stadium will feature over 6,500 hospitality locations and will be equipped to host various sporting and leisure events. The design of the stadium is being led by Fenwick Iribarren Architects, a firm that has designed sports stadiums around the world, including some of those that hosted matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The new stadium will feature a textile roof that will cover 100% of the capacity and will be equipped with photovoltaic panels. The urban space around the stadium will be expanded by 20,000 m² and will offer areas for public activities such as ‘Fan Zones’. Inside, the color orange will predominate, and the bat, a historical symbol of the club, will continue to be present.
