Valencia Coach Carlos Corberán Faces Critical Leganés Match Amid Relegation Fears

Corberán: "I don't feel that I am having a hard time arriving at the footballer"

Valencia coach Carlos Corberán is focused on the upcoming match against Leganés on Sunday at Mestalla, following the team’s recent win in the Copa against Barcelona. With the team struggling in the league, currently four points away from safety, beating Leganés is a necessity. Corberán has confirmed that Hugo Hard will be available to play, but Foulquier will not be able to participate due to ongoing muscle problems.

Corberán believes that the short time between matches will help his team to quickly recover and refocus. He expressed that the team is eager to return to Mestalla and make up for their previous performance. When asked about how the team can be recovered after such a recent win, Corberán stated, “The fact that between one party and another there is so little time allows no regret time. There is time to get up. Today I felt the energy again in the group, the desire to return to Mestalla and the desire to heal the wound.”

The coach also emphasized the importance of Pepelu, who has struggled to make an impact this year. Corberán said, “Pepelu is very important. I see it every day working hard to recover their best version. All soccer players want to be proud of their performance in the field, and the more players proud of their performance and delivery, the better because we will be closer to our best collective performance.”

In terms of team dynamics, Corberán believes that the players are starting to understand their game idea. However, he acknowledges that there is still room for growth and evolution. When asked if players are already understanding their game idea, Corberán responded, “We have to continue growing, we want to continue evolving the team in attack and defense and on a stopped ball. But that approach is inexhaustible because I never stop, the more Domininas party records, the more options you have to win the game.”

Corberán is aware of Leganés’ defensive strengths and emphasizes the need for his team to focus on their own preparation and attitude. He stated, “He is doing things very well, but we have to focus on us and what we can do to win the game. We have to prepare the party with the detail, and knowing that to achieve the result you have to unite the preparation, tension, attitude and self-love for the goal.”

The coach also provided updates on the fitness of his players. Hugo Hard has been training separately with medical services and is expected to be available for the match, while Foulquier will not be able to play due to his ongoing muscle issues. When asked about Foulquier’s state, Corberán said, “Foulquier had a problem in the abductor, the evolution has been positive, but it will not be.”

Corberán does not believe that the recent win against Barcelona will affect his team’s motivation. Instead, he thinks that the team has learned from their mistakes and is ready to move forward. When asked if he thinks it is hard to get to the player after what happened to Barcelona, Corberán responded, “I don’t feel that I am having a hard time getting the player, I feel that the games have to be resolved in the game and one has to learn from his own mistake to correct it.”

The coach is also aware of the potential reaction from the fans at Mestalla, following the disappointing performance against Barcelona. However, he believes that the players are eager to give their best and make amends. Corberán said, “The players want to give their best to the fans already Mestalla. I have felt and have seen and lived. The fans are aware of its importance, they have demonstrated it in each party.”

Finally, Corberán provided an update on Rafa Mir’s progress, who has been recovering from a long injury layoff. The coach believes that Mir has the potential to be a fundamental piece of the team and is working hard to achieve his best version. When asked about Rafa Mir’s performance in the game against Barcelona and when he will recover his best version, Corberán stated, “My way of working is to always consider that each of my players will be a fundamental piece. You have to always work in that regard. Players have to work to feel fundamental. Rafa Mir comes from a long period of injury and has to work and knows it to achieve his best version.”
