Valderrama once again shows its commitment to the environment

Solidarity, awareness and action, three words that usually go hand in hand, are the most appropriate nouns to define the cleaning of Torreguadiaro beach that took place on Wednesday morning. This initiative promoted by the DP World Tour within the framework of the Estrella Damm NA Andalusia Masters It had the support of the Excellent San Roque City Council and the collaboration of a good number of volunteers.

The second edition of this activity had Álvaro Quirós as the protagonist and indisputable reference for the volunteers, a magnificent mirror in which to look. The local star, accompanied by fellow Portuguese professional Ricardo Santos, gave an example and testimony of his love for the land and his environmental awareness.

More than 80 volunteers attended this beautiful corner of the Cadiz coast, 25 of them kids who collaborated enthusiastically and showed that youth is not at odds with commitment. All of them accompanied Quirós and Santos and reinforced the DP World Tour squad displaced to the area. Two local representatives did not want to miss it either, Juan Serván, deputy mayor and delegate for the Environment of San Roque, and Óscar Ledesma, deputy mayor of the Valle del Guadiaro area, who praised the initiative and its participants.

Álvaro Quirós, who went with his family to Torreguadiaro beach, made it clear that he carries his land deep inside and wanted to take advantage of the loudspeaker offered by the Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters to demand greater environmental sensitivity. ”I am very happy to have participated in this initiative. This is the beach where I grew up and where I now come with my children, so this action has a little more flavor and purpose because it is so special to me”, explained the winner of seven titles on the DP World Tour. ”Luckily, I wasn’t the only one, a lot of people came, and it’s nice to see that people care. A small gesture can make a very big difference. One hour a year, as is unfortunately my case, costs nothing and is something that can help a lot, although I must admit that the beach was quite clean”, Quirós pointed out.

Once again this year, this initiative was part of the DP World Tour’s Green Drive program, created to promote social and environmental responsibility and generate a positive impact in each of the tournaments on the circuit’s calendar. The effort of the volunteers was rewarded with passes to access the Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters on Saturday or Sunday, which is held at the Real Club Valderrama, the best course in Spain according to the most reputable publications.
