She told us this role made her step far outside her comfort zone. It was anything but easy.
A Bold New Chapter for Vaani
In ‘Mandala Murders,’ Vaani plays CBI Officer Riya Thomas. This marks a truly fresh start in her career. She spoke about her early struggles in Bollywood. For many years, Vaani was seen in dazzling and romantic movie roles. But in ‘Mandala Murders,’ she appears in a totally different light. She says this shift was quite tough for her. During a chat with Moneycontrol, Vaani was asked why she chose this character. She explained that it was unlike any character she had played before.
Riya’s character required Vaani to act without showing much emotion. She had no long lines or big dramatic gestures. All her feelings had to come through her eyes. Vaani shared that this was both emotionally and mentally draining. Still, the challenge drew her in. She really pushed herself out of her comfort zone for ‘Mandala Murders.’ Vaani shared that staying consistent in the role was the hardest part. You cannot lose sight of how the character is built. The demanding action scenes, tough physical training, and the heavy mental strain all pushed her boundaries.
Two Years to Chase a Dream
Vaani also talked about her first days of struggle in Mumbai. She said it was hard to fit into the glamorous Bollywood world. She’s naturally an introvert. Coming from Delhi, she didn’t know anyone in Mumbai. She gave herself a deadline. She decided to give her dream a year or two. If things didn’t work out, she planned to simply move on with her life.
