Usyk Takes Top Honors But What’s Next for the Champion

The prestigious boxing magazine, The Ring, held its annual awards gala in London, recognizing the exceptional accomplishments of boxers and industry professionals. The event was attended by renowned boxers, including Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, and Roberto Durán.

Oleksandr Usyk Takes Home Three Awards

Oleksandr Usyk, the WBC-WBA-WBO heavyweight world champion, was the star of the evening, winning three awards. He was named Boxer of the Year 2024 after winning all four heavyweight belts in May and successfully defending his titles in December. Usyk also received the Round of the Year award for the ninth round of his first fight against Tyson Fury and the Event of the Year award for his rematch against Fury.

Other Notable Winners

Gabriela Fundora won the award for Boxer of the Year after winning the four flyweight belts in November. Daniel Dubois won the KO of the Year award for his fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in September. Legendary promoter Don King received the lifetime achievement award.
