Indian Singer Usha Uthup Mourns the Loss of Her Husband Jani Chacko Uthup
Kolkata, [Date] – Jani Chacko Uthup, the husband of renowned Indian pop singer Usha Uthup, passed away on Monday in Kolkata. He was 75 years old.
Cause of Death
According to family sources, Jani Chacko Uthup died due to cardiac arrest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital after complaining of uneasiness while watching TV at his home, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Biographical Information
Jani Chacko Uthup was Usha Uthup’s second husband and was involved in the tea cultivation industry. The couple first met in the early 1970s at Kolkata’s iconic restaurant Trincoma’s. Apart from Usha, Jani has left behind two children, a son, and a daughter.
Final Rites
Jani Chacko Uthup’s last rites will be performed on Tuesday.
Usha Uthup’s Achievements
Earlier this year, Usha Uthup was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor, for her significant contributions to the music industry. She received the award at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of President of India Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Remembering Bappi Lahiri
After receiving the award, Usha Uthup spoke about missing her fellow artist Bappi Lahiri, with whom she had collaborated on many popular songs, including "Ramba Ho", "Hari Om Hari", and "Koi Yahan Nache Nache". She also expressed her longing for RD Burman, another legendary musician she had worked with.
