US tells China ‘it won’t take long before someone gets hurt’

Washington (BLAZETRENDS).- The White House warned China on Monday that “it won’t take long before someone gets hurt” after the incident this weekend near Taiwan, where a Chinese military ship maneuvered dangerously a few meters of the American destroyer USS Chung-Hoon.

The spokesman for the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, expressed at a press conference “US concern” about China’s “unsafe and unprofessional” behavior.

Events

In recent weeks, the forces of both countries have staged clashes at sea and in the air.

On Monday, the US Navy released a video showing the “unsafe interaction”, as it calls it, between the US destroyer and a Chinese warship in the Taiwan Strait on Saturday.

This occurs after the Pentagon denounced on May 30 that a Chinese fighter carried out “unnecessary” and “aggressive” maneuvers four days earlier to intercept a US reconnaissance plane. in the South China Sea .

These types of events “can lead to miscalculations when you have pieces of metal that size, whether it’s in the air or at sea,” Kirby said.

“If they operate so closely,” he continued, “it’s not going to take long for there to be an error in judgment or just a mistake, and someone is going to get hurt. And that has become unacceptable, it should be unacceptable for them too.”

US open to dialogue with China

Kirby considered that there is a growing increase in aggressiveness on the part of Chinese forces, especially in the Taiwan Strait and in the South Sea of the Asian giant.

“We are prepared to address it,” Kirby said, adding that the US will continue to keep lines of communication open with China “to make clear how unacceptable these interceptions are.”

Kirby added that the issue will also be discussed by the two White House State Department and National Security Council officials, Daniel Kritenbrink and Sara Beran, who are currently visiting China.
