Just days before the biggest swimming event, the US national team has hit a snag. Around ten of their top swimmers are battling food poisoning. These athletes were in Thailand, getting ready for the World Championships in Singapore. The sickness hit during their training camp in Phuket.
The specialized sports site SwimSwam broke the news. Nearly half the affected group stayed behind in Phuket. They haven’t traveled to Singapore yet. The rest of the team left as planned. We don’t know the names of the sick swimmers.
With the World Championships starting Sunday, time is short. Team officials told the US swimmers to avoid the hotel buffet. They were also told to skip vegetables. Everyone hopes the affected swimmers can join the team in Singapore very soon.
