US Supreme Court lifts gun ban

The US Supreme Court has lifted the arms embargo and made it legal to carry weapons in public places.

The court ruled that carrying a weapon in public is a fundamental right of a citizen. The court ruled that New York State’s decades-old law was unconstitutional, requiring citizens to publicly state “reasonable grounds” for carrying weapons.

New York law gave local authorities the discretion to decide who to license to carry a gun.

The court ruled that the law violated the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, which states that no state can enact or enforce a law that would deprive citizens of privileges and exemptions.

US President Joe Biden has sharply criticized the decision, saying it was “irrational” and “unconstitutional”.

New York Governor Kathy Hochhol also criticized the decision, calling it the darkest in the country.
