US Open 2025: Tennis’s Most Promising Couples and Romances Revealed

New York City is always buzzing, especially when the US Open rolls into town. This year, the excitement isn’t just about intense matches or championship dreams. There’s a whole lot of love in the air, too, both on and off the courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. As the tournament kicks off on Sunday, August 24, fans are keeping an eye on more than just aces and volleys.

From newly engaged tennis sweethearts to a power couple raising a family, and even some pairings that have everyone talking, the romantic side of the sport is taking center stage. These pro players are giving the term “love-love” a fresh new twist. Let’s take a closer look at the stars whose personal lives are making as many headlines as their powerful serves.

Australian talent Alex de Miñaur, 26, and English star Katie Boulter, 29, are riding high on love. They thrilled fans in December 2024 by announcing their engagement. Boulter playfully shared the news on Instagram, posting a sweet photo with her new fiancé and writing, “We’ve been keeping a little secret… 🤭.”

The tennis world quickly showered the couple with good wishes. De Miñaur, currently ranked number 8 globally, and Boulter, at number 48, saw an outpouring of support. Fellow pro Caroline Wozniacki sent her love, writing, “Congrats, guys❤️❤️🥂💍.” Ukrainian player Marta Kostyuk, who will face Boulter in the first round of the US Open this Sunday, added, “Yessss!!! So happy for you two 🥹🥹🥹♥️♥️.”

De Miñaur even made light of the wedding costs earlier this year. He told Eurosport at the 2025 Australian Open that his upcoming nuptials keep him focused. “When I look stressed on the court,” de Miñaur explained, “I’m really just thinking about the wedding budget. It makes me think, ‘I need to win more money, I need to win more matches.’ That’s what’s always in my head.”

French tennis player Gaël Monfils, 38, and Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina, 30, are a married duo bringing their bond to the court. Monfils popped the question in Geneva, Switzerland, and the couple tied the knot there in July 2021, a year later. Svitolina marked the big day on Instagram, posting “Mrs & Mr Monfils ❤️” alongside photos of their matching lavender outfits, both designed by the late Virgil Abloh.

Svitolina shared her joy in her own Instagram post, calling it “the best day of my life.” Their family grew in October 2022 when they welcomed their daughter, Skaï. Monfils celebrated Skaï’s first birthday on X, sharing a heartfelt message. “Every moment with you reminds me how lucky I am,” he wrote. “Your smile, your laughter, even your tears, add unique color to my daily life. You’ve truly lit up and changed my world. To you, my little pearl, I wish all the happiness and wonders life has to offer.”

Carlos Alcaraz, 22, and Emma Raducanu, 22, have been the subject of dating rumors for months, and those whispers have followed them all the way to New York. The Spanish phenom and the 2021 US Open champion teamed up for the mixed doubles tournament. Though they lost in the first round to Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper, their cheerful chemistry on the court didn’t go unnoticed. One tennis fan even asked on X, “Am I seeing the start of a love story?”

Raducanu, however, has played down the romance talk with Alcaraz. During her pre-Wimbledon press conference in June, she simply stated, “We are just good friends.” She also shared that it was Alcaraz who asked her to play mixed doubles with him. “He suggested it at the start of the year,” she told the BBC in June. “I was very surprised and honored, and obviously excited.” She added that she only went through the motions of telling her coach because, “Of course, I was going to say yes.” When asked about all the chatter surrounding her and Alcaraz, Raducanu just laughed. “I’m glad the internet is having fun,” she said, “and that we’re giving everyone a bit of entertainment.”

World number one Jannik Sinner, 24, recently ended his relationship with fellow tennis player Anna Kalinskaya, 26. Since then, rumors have swirled about a possible new connection with American rising star Emma Navarro, 24. Sinner confirmed his breakup with Kalinskaya in May, telling reporters simply, “I am not in a relationship.” He had first announced their romance in May 2024.

Earlier this month, a commentator at the Cincinnati Open stirred the pot, trying to connect Sinner and Navarro. “You probably know Kalinskaya ended her relationship with Jannik Sinner earlier this year,” the announcer said. “I noticed the other day Sinner was outside, hitting with Emma Navarro here in Cincinnati. I don’t know if that means anything, probably nothing. But, it makes you raise an eyebrow.”

Sinner and Navarro were actually planning to play mixed doubles together at the 2025 US Open, but Sinner had to withdraw. Navarro jokingly recalled their conversation in July. “He begged me to play,” she teased. “He told me, ‘I’ve heard about your volleys and your doubles skill. Please, please, would you play with me?’” Navarro said her playful response was, “Yes, sure, I guess I’ll play with you. You’re not the best player, but I’ll make an exception and try to find a better partner next year.” However, Navarro later pulled out of the mixed doubles event to focus on singles at the Monterrey Open. Sinner, in turn, withdrew from mixed doubles with his new partner, Katerina Siniakova, after falling ill at the Cincinnati Open. Despite the chatter, Sinner and Navarro haven’t given any signs that they are more than just good friends.
