The buzz is building for the US Open, and while the tennis action always gets people talking, there’s another kind of draw to the courts. We’re talking about the handsome male athletes who are about to take over New York City. Forget about baseball season for a moment; it’s time for tennis pros to shine, and many attractive men will be hitting the court.
Mark your calendars! The 2025 tournament kicks off on Sunday, August 24, and wraps up on Sunday, September 7. That means two weeks of incredible matches, amazing athleticism, and, let’s be honest, a good look at some toned, tanned calves. And yes, you might just hear a few groans from the players as they chase down every ball.
One name you’ll definitely be hearing, and probably seeing a lot of, is Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. He’s the reigning Roland Garros champion and a clear favorite to make a deep run in the tournament. But beyond his powerful serve and agile moves, the 1.83-meter (that’s about six feet) athlete is also known for stealing hearts. He works hard to stay in top shape, of course, because that’s what it takes to be a champion. However, what really makes him stand out – and feel just like one of us – is his approach to cheat meals.
Alcaraz recently spilled some delicious secrets to the Financial Times earlier this month. "I eat a burger before, during, or after a tournament," he shared. He’s also not shy about dessert. "I always allow myself some dessert, a little chocolate — that’s not a problem for me." When it comes to celebrating a big win, he keeps it personal. "How do I celebrate? Maybe when I return home. My mother’s food is always the best." And for a special treat? "I drink champagne and Coca-Cola, something I don’t do during tournaments… Without overdoing it, of course," he added with a chuckle.
