US Embassy Announces Arrival of New Chargé d’Affaires Isiah Parnell

The United States Embassy in Santo Domingo announced the arrival of its Chargé d’Affaires, Isiah Parnell. Parnell held a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Roberto Álvarez.

“The United States and the Dominican Republic are partners and friends with a historic relationship based on mutual respect and collaboration,” said Chargé d’Affaires Parnell. “I am proud to lead this mission whose more than 900 employees work tirelessly every day to strengthen our historically strong ties and advance the shared interests of our two great countries.”

Since joining the Foreign Service in 1984, Parnell has held leadership roles at the United States Embassies in Colombia, Mexico, Kenya, and Jamaica. She has also served in Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Paraguay, and Ghana. Parnell has bachelor’s and master’s degrees (1978 and 1981) from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in government affairs and economics; and a master’s degree (1980) in urban planning and economics from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

Married in 1984, Parnell and his wife, Tamice Gordon Parnell, have four daughters.
