US Beats Italy 3-0, Reaches U-20 World Cup Quarter-Finals

The United States U-20 soccer team secured their spot in the World Cup quarterfinals this Thursday. They delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Italy in Chile. This win makes them the seventh nation to advance in the tournament. Joshua Wynder, the talented player from Benfica, was part of this impressive American squad.

Benjamin Cremaschi got the scoring started for the Americans early, finding the net just 15 minutes into the game. The team then extended their lead when Niko Tsakiris added a second goal at the 79-minute mark. Cremaschi put the game truly out of reach with his second goal in the 93rd minute, sealing a dominant performance.

The U.S. team now looks ahead to their next challenge. They will face the winner of the match between Morocco and South Korea in the quarterfinals. That game is set to kick off at midnight, Lisbon time. Fans are eager to see who the Americans will meet next.

Other Round of 16 matches also brought their share of excitement. On the final day, both France and Norway needed extra time to clinch their wins. France overcame Japan, and Norway edged out Paraguay, with both matches ending 1-0. It was a tough finish for Japan, who hit the goalposts multiple times but ultimately lost to a penalty kick deep in extra time, at 120+3 minutes. Norway’s deciding goal came a bit earlier, at the 116-minute mark.

With the Round of 16 wrapped up, the quarterfinal matchups are now set. We’ll see Mexico take on Argentina, Spain battle Colombia, and Norway face France.
