A major twist in the Trump tariffs saga. A US appeals court just put the brakes on a previous ruling that would have killed the former president’s trade policies. This means Trump’s plan to tax imports from around the world could be back on the table.
The appeals court stepped in after a lower court ruled that Trump had overstepped his authority when he used a 1977 economic emergency law to impose tariffs. Now, the court has temporarily blocked that ruling, giving the government time to appeal.
This all happened just one day after the lower court gave the US government 10 days to stop collecting the tariffs. The court had said Trump’s actions were beyond his legal powers.
Trump’s team is cheering the decision, saying it’s a big win. Peter Navarro, Trump’s trade advisor, says the White House is ready to take the case to the Supreme Court if needed. He’s confident the tariffs will move forward.
The White House is also lashing out at the lower court, calling its judges “rogue.” Kevin Hassett, another Trump advisor, says the appeals court decision is a victory and that Trump’s trade team will keep working to make trade deals more fair and restore American greatness.
All this is happening as the US government is preparing to take the case to the Supreme Court. The Trump team says it’s confident it will win in the end.
