Casabo Neighborhood Shaken by Discovery of Infant Remains
A 25-year-old Argentine citizen and her 36-year-old Uruguayan partner are under investigation by the Police after the discovery of a baby’s body in a cooler in a house on Guinea Street and Los Ceibos Passage in the Casabo neighborhood of Montevideo.
Investigation Unfolds
The situation came to light on July 16 when the woman was taken by police after giving birth to a baby at home. She was initially taken to a sanatorium and later to the health insurance company of which she is a member.
Medical History Reveals Previous Pregnancy
A doctor who treated her at her health provider verified in her medical history that the patient had given birth to a baby on September 1, 2023, with similar characteristics, without prior check-ups, and had given birth at home.
Police Report Filed
Health personnel asked the woman about the situation of her other daughter, to which the mother stated that the minor had died in Argentina and did not provide further details, saying she did not remember them. It was from there that the doctors filed the police report.
Partner Unaware of Pregnancy
The woman’s partner and father told police they were unaware she was pregnant. The woman was evaluated by psychiatrists, according to the information on the case.
Autopsy Reveals Advanced Decomposition
An autopsy determined that the baby’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating that the death occurred several months ago.
