Jairo Sebastián Crosa Olmedo, a 26-year-old offender, was extradited from Argentina to Uruguay, where he was taken into custody on November 20, 2024. He has been charged in connection with an attack on a police officer that occurred in early July outside a supermarket in the Conciliation neighborhood. This incident has been declared an attempted homicide.
Crosa Olmedo had a red alert issued by Interpol, requested by Uruguay, for a very especially aggravated homicide in a tentative degree. His arrest was made possible by the Argentine Federal Police in Morón, following an exchange of information with the Uruguayan police that helped determine the area in which the man was moving.
The suspect was identified after losing a shoe at the scene of the crime, which, after scientific police analysis, provided a genetic profile that led to his identification as one of the criminals involved.
