Unveiling the History of CD Pegaso
The Royal Football Federation of Madrid recently hosted the presentation of a book that delves into the history of CD Pegaso, a legendary Madrid football club founded in 1962 by the Pegaso truck company.
Author Juan Carlos Casas penned the book, titled “Horse start, donkey stop… and gallop again,” which chronicles the team’s journey from glory to chaos. The writer noted that the book tells “a story with strong emotions, despite being short, given its year of founding.”
It is essential to share the history of Madrid’s modest football, as it is rich and interesting.
The book’s prologue was written by Vicente del Bosque and Paco Diez, President of the RFFM. Diez expressed his happiness about the publication of the book, emphasizing the importance of sharing the history of Madrid’s modest football.
Former presidents, coaches, and players of the club attended the event, including Miguel Hernandez, a former soccer player for Rayo Vallecano and a member of the Spanish team that won Olympic gold at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
Jesus Manuel Palencia, a member of the Palencia family, which played a crucial role in the survival of CD Pegaso, spoke at the event. Palencia was a player, sports director, and occasional coach for the team.
Alvaro Arroyo, Director of Institutional Relations of Iveco Group, and Juan Luis Arias, current president of CD Pegaso Balompié Tres Cantos, also spoke at the event. Since 2020, CD Pegaso Balompié Tres Cantos has been the direct descendant of CD Pegaso and is currently playing in the Second Category of RFFM Amateurs.
