She could have stayed there. A 15-year-old dog was rescued at the last minute in a rainwater collector in the city of Arlington, Texas (United States), after an action worthy of an action movie.
Disappeared for a few days, the dog Zoey had shown no sign of life anywhere, so much so that her owners had no hope of finding her. But it was without counting on the mobilization of their neighbors, who assured to have heard an animal barking under the asphalt of the main road of the city.
more than 10 working hours
A track immediately taken seriously by the Arlington road services, who were able to find the trace of Zoey, stuck underground, thanks to the CCTV cameras of the stormwater management company. Then followed an impressive rescue operation, which required more than 10 hours of work.
It was first necessary to saw the bitumen to have access to the pipes, then to saw again the water distribution pipes, before being able to see the old bitch. A firefighter had to use a skateboard again to slide inside the pipe to the animal.

An exceptional intervention which could only be possible with the help of all municipal agents, police and firefighters in the city. “It was a miracle,” said the owners of Zoey, praising the help received by the whole community.
Thus found safe and sound, the dog Zoey was able to return home, after a day of observation at the animal hospital. And for the little anecdote, the skateboard used to rescue her was returned to the young neighbor who kindly lent it, signed by the entire rescue team.
