United States: ten dead in a massacre in Buffalo, New York, the FBI favors the “racial” track

An 18-year-old white man opened fire on Saturday, May 14, in a supermarket located in Buffalo, New York. The provisional toll shows at least ten dead and three injured, eleven of whom are African-Americans, said the Buffalo Police Chief Joseph Gramaglia. The alleged killer, who was heavily armed, was immediately arrested on the spot, initially prosecuted for “premeditated murder”, and incarcerated.

According to the authorities, it would be a new racist killing perpetrated by a white supremacist. “We are investigating this incident as both a hate crime and a racially motivated violent extremism case”said Stephen Belongia, FBI policeman in Buffalo, at a press conference in this northern American city, on the shores of Lake Erie, on the border with Canada.

The alleged shooter is a young white man who was equipped with a “assault weapon”a bulletproof vest, a military-style outfit, a helmet and a camera to broadcast his crime live on the internet, announced the local police and judicial authorities.
