United Kingdom: Conservative MP stabbed several times

“David (Amess) has been stabbed several times (…) It looks very serious,” said the Conservative City Councilor John Lamb to the newspaper “Echo”.

A British Conservative MP, David Amess, was stabbed several times on Friday, October 15, during a parliamentary office he held in a church in his constituency in Leigh-on-Sea (United Kingdom), in the east London, according to a city councilor and local media.

Local police were alerted to a stabbing attack in Leigh-on-Sea shortly after noon local time, she said on Twitter. “A man was arrested shortly after and we are not looking for anyone else”, said the same source.

Conservative City Councilor John Lamb, who is present on site, confirmed to the British newspaper Echo that MP David Amess was the victim of a stabbing attack. “David was stabbed several times (…) He is still inside the church. It looks very serious”, he told the newspaper.
