Unicaja will defend its Copa del Rey at Carpena

The Copa del Rey will return to Andalusia in 2024 and it will be played in Malaga. The CBA, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación and the City Council of Málaga have reached an agreement for the event to be held in the capital of the Costa del Sol within a year, taking over from Badalona 2023.

He Martin Carpena Sports Palace will vibrate with the Copa del Rey between 15 and 18 February 2024.

With the agreement between the ACB, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación and the Malaga City Council, the best ACB basketball will return to Andalusia, where the Copas del Rey de Grenade (2022) and Malaga (2020) and the Endesa Seville Super Cup (2022).

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, Arturo Bernalhas highlighted the “good harmony” with the acb, which has been demonstrated once again with the confirmation that Malaga will host the next Copa del Rey in 2024. “The commitment from the Andalusian Government is twofold, on the one hand to attract large events to the community and on the other that serve as an incentive to disseminate and create sports practice habits among the Andalusians. “Málaga is a province that loves basketball and the Martín Carpena is the ideal place to host the next edition of the Copa del Rey, where the Unicaja will have the honor of defend title”has pointed out the president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado. In addition, the president has ensured that the province fully identifies with the values ​​that basketball instills in young people, such as sportsmanship, teamwork, effort and competitiveness.

For his part, the mayor of Malaga, Francis of the Towerhas recognized that “the celebration of the Cup in Malaga in 2024 will be an opportunity to enjoy the best basketball in Spain – which is among the best in Europe and, therefore, of the world— for the fans of all of Andalusia, and especially the ones from Malaga, to whom Unicaja has just given a joy for which all of us from Malaga feel tremendously proud”.
