The quarterfinal matches of the Queen of Menorca 2025 Cup have come to an end, and we’re now heading into the semifinals with two exciting confrontations. The day’s games were nothing short of thrilling, with one match going to a Tie-Break and another ending in a wide victory. Unicaja AndalucĂa Fundacion managed to take down Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna in a nail-biting Tie-Break, while Heidelberg-Volkswagen dominated DSV Sant Cugat with a convincing 3-0 win. The stage is now set for the semifinals, which will take place this Saturday, with Sayre-Avarca facing off at 17h and Unicaja-Heidelberg Fundacion at 20h.
The End of a Curse
For Unicaja Fundacion, the curse is finally over. They had never won against Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna in this competition, but that all changed with their recent victory. Magui FrĂas was on fire, scoring 20 points and getting plenty of support from LucĂa Prol, Emma Ellis, and the brilliant Luoise SansĂł. The team’s rhythm was electric, thanks in part to Lazurenko’s entry and the defensive strength of Isabel BarĂłn. It was the perfect storm that ended the curse and sent the team to the semifinals.

The game was far from simple, though. Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna came out strong, with Decola Owokoniram and Elis Petit leading the charge, accompanied by Marga PizĂ . They took the first set 20-25, and it seemed like they might dominate the game. But Unicaja Fundacion had other plans. They bounced back in the second set, and the third set was a real nail-biter. In the end, it was Brianna Green who came in after Leticia delagrammatikas’ injury and gave the final push to take the game to Tie-Break.
The final result was 2-3 (20-25/25-22/25-25/22-25/15-10), a thrilling win for Unicaja Fundacion.
A Leader’s Performance
Heidelberg-Volkswagen, on the other hand, showed up to their game against DSV Sant Cugat with a presentation that was nothing short of perfect. They’re the current leaders of the Iberdrola League, and they played like it. The first set was a close call, with InĂ©s Victory’s serve putting Santi Guerra’s team on their heels. But Cami Hiruela’s technical skills helped close out the set. The second and third sets were more of the same, with DSV Sant Cugat unable to neutralize Heidelberg-Volkswagen’s game. Winderlys Medina, Dayana Segovia, and the impressive Lola Hernández all contributed to the team’s dominant performance.
The final result was 3-0 (26-24/25-18/25-17), a convincing win for Heidelberg-Volkswagen.
