Ultra right: Gérald Darmanin wants to dissolve the Angevin association L'Alvarium

Gérald Darmanin said Thursday October 28 that he intended to dissolve L’Alvarium, an identity association based in Angers (Maine-et-Loire).

“I have today initiated an adversarial procedure against a de facto ultra-right group, the Alvarium, located in Angers, with a view to its dissolution”, announced the Minister of the Interior on Twitter, adding that “the many facts observed, the repeated reports of many elected officials, including the mayor of Angers (Christophe Béchu, Editor’s note), motivate this action”.

On its website, Alvarium presents itself as a “community and a friendly and militant meeting place” leading “social action in the service of those whom the State prefers to ignore”.

Defense of Angevin culture

“Our association is resolutely identity-based, it promotes Angevin culture, a component of French and European civilization”, it is written on the site.

Among the actions undertaken by this association: “defense of heritage and rediscovery of our local culture”, “weekly distributions of clothing and food”, “community initiatives (vegetable garden, tips, jobs)” or even the “Political activism for the awakening of conscience”.

Last June, eight deputies from La République en Marche wrote to Gérald Darmanin to ask for the dissolution of the Alvarium, “this association which acts in defiance of our principles and our values, and which represents a real risk of disturbing the environment. ‘public order”.
