Ukrainian Eurovision presenter comments from a bunker

Qualified for the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest, Ukraine will indeed broadcast the competition, organized this Saturday, May 14 in Turin (Italy). The presenter, who has been in the role for seventeen years, will moderate and comment on the event from an air-raid shelter, the location of which has not been specified for security reasons, reports BFM TVthis Thursday, May 12.

A bunker “to transmit, even in the event of bombardments”

“Since the war, we have set up three studios there and next door we have the control room. We settled here temporarily to broadcast, even in the event of bombing, said host Timur Myroshnychenko. I’m 36, and I’ve been in Eurovision for 17 years. It represents about fifty shows, so really, it’s a part of me. »

The production teams have to make do with the means at hand. They thus reused a piece of the red carpet that was used during Eurovision 2017. The presenter now hopes for a victory for the Ukrainian group, as a symbol to reward “the courage” of an entire population.
