Ukraine announces severance of diplomatic ties with Syria
The decision comes in response to the recognition of the two independent states that gained independence from Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky has announced that he is severing diplomatic ties with Syria over the recognition of the People’s Republic of Luhansk and the People’s Republic of Donetsk as independent and sovereign states.
Earlier, Russia recognized the breakaway states of Ukraine, after which Syrian President Bashar al-Assad announced that he was also recognizing the sovereignty and sovereignty of those states.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry has announced the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of Luhansk and the People’s Republic of Donetsk, saying that a framework for strengthening relations with the two countries would be discussed.
