Ukraine launches ‘NFT war museum’ on Ethereum and Polygon

The war in Ukraine has been raging for more than a month and there seems to be no end to it for the time being. While the whole country is under fire, Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation has announced that it has a Meta History Museum of War going to launch. In this virtual museum only non-fungible tokens (NFT) are on display and people can even buy these NFTs!

NFT museum

The museum, as the name suggests, is not a physical building. This is a completely virtual museum. The collection, in the form of NFTs, will consist of recent events in the war between Ukraine and Russia in chronological order. Both Ukraine and international digital artists contributed to these NFTs.

What makes this museum very special is the fact that you can also buy every piece on display! Each piece is an NFT created on the Fair NFT platform that runs on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain and the Polygon (MATIC) network. All pictures in the museum remain invisible until you buy them. So you don’t know in advance what you’re buying. This was done very consciously by the museum:

“You reveal the truth by buying MetaHistory.”

Every available NFT has the same price tag of 0.15 ETH. This converts to about $468 at the time of writing. The proceeds from the sale of the NFTs will go entirely to the crypto wallet of the Ministry. These funds are then used to support Ukrainian troops and provide assistance to civilians.

crypto donations

Since the beginning of the war, the crypto industry has played quite a role in supporting Ukraine financially. People all over the world have widely cryptocurrencies donated to Ukrainian authorities. More than $100 million has already been donated in the form of crypto!
