Ukraine enters 2023 under a missile barrage but with faith in victory

Ukraine begins 2023 under a barrage of Russian missiles and Iranian drones but without losing faith in victory and the expulsion of Russian troops from its territory.

The General Staff reported in its war report that in the last 24 hours “the enemy launched 31 missile attacks and 12 air strikes”, causing damage in eight regions of the country, without giving even a day of truce on the occasion of the New Year.

In addition, the Russians launched 13 Iranian Shahed-136 drones, which were shot down by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The head of the military administration of the kyiv region, Oleksiy Kuleba, reported that in the early hours of January 1, the local anti-aircraft defense “repelled a suicide drone attack” that Russia launched against Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.

“Previously, there were no victims. There is damage to infrastructure facilities,” he added.

Natalia Humeniuk, head of the joint press center of Operational Command South, told Ukrainian television that the recent missile attacks “were carried out from missile carriers from the Caspian.”

“This is the first time this has happened since the start of the invasion. This is probably due to the fact that it is increasingly difficult for them to supply themselves on the Black Sea coast, ”he opined.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported for its part that the massive attacks carried out during the last day against Ukraine targeted facilities of the neighboring country’s military-industrial complex and warehouses for assault drones.

“The Russian Armed Forces attacked with long-range and long-precision airborne weapons targets of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex that were involved in the manufacture of assault drones used to carry out terrorist attacks against the Russian Federation,” the entity said. castrate.

According to Igor Konashenkov, a Defense spokesman, the missiles “impacted against warehouses and launch systems for assault drones. The objective of the attack was achieved.”

“The kyiv regime’s plans to carry out terrorist attacks against Russia in the near future have failed,” the Russian high command said.

Despite the fact that 2023 has begun under missile fire, Ukraine remains firm in its bid for victory.

“I just want to wish everyone one thing: victory. And that is the main thing. One wish for all Ukrainians. May this year be the year to give back. Bring back our people. Return our soldiers to their families. Return the prisoners to their homes. To the refugees, back to Ukraine,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his New Year message.

The president expressed his confidence that 2023 will be the year in which Ukraine will recover its lands up to the 1991 borders and “return to normal life.”

“They talked to us about capitulation. But we chose the counteroffensive! They talked to us about concessions and compromises. But we are moving towards the European Union and NATO. The world has listened to Ukraine,” she said.

However, it is a long and hard road, admitted today in an interview on Ukrainian television the head of Ukrainian Military Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, who predicted the defeat of Russia in 2023 and stated that the Kremlin will soon change tenants.

“From the practical point of view, first the exit to the administrative borders of the year 1991 and then the rest,” he said.

According to Budanov, this will be followed by the reconstruction of the country and the search for answers to “what to do with the people who lived for eight years under the occupation, what to do with those who fought against us.”

Will Russia stop its terror policies? In reality, they could continue to attack us at the border or launch between two or three missiles a month… There are still many questions,” she pointed out.
