UK will soon test the four-day week

Work less to earn as much. In the United Kingdom, about fifty companies will soon test a new work organization. From June, the four-day week (paid for five) will be experimented for a period of six months, reported SlateSaturday. The experience will be overseen by the 4 Days Week Global Foundation, which advocates around the world for four-day weeks.

Scientists from the universities of Cambridge, Boston and Oxford will closely monitor the results of this test. According to the magazine Fast Companyif successful, a bill could be examined by the British Parliament for the adoption of the thirty-two hour week.

No decrease in productivity recorded

In order to properly prepare the companies participating in the test, they will follow training courses between the months of March and May. The objective is above all to organize the workload, because the foundation wants employees to carry out denser working days. The experiment should begin during the month of February in Ireland and in April in the United States.

Many people defend the shortened work week. According to them, the model currently applied in the United Kingdom is not suitable, because the working time would certainly be higher than the European average, but the productivity is one of the lowest. In companies that have already tested this four-day week around the world, no drop in productivity would have been recorded. On the contrary, employees would be more fulfilled, and a drop in sick leave would have been observed.
